  9. What is The Redirector ?
  10. ----------------------

  12. The Redirector is a control panel which allow you to redirect your
  13. standard serial ports (Modem and Printer) to another serial port on
  14. your computer (QuadraLinkｪ port, PCMCIA Modem card, or any other
  15. serial port which declares itself to the CommToolBox).
  16. It is useful for softwares which can only use standard serial ports
  17. (Modem and Printer ports).

  19. The Redirector and LocalTalk
  20. --------------------------

  22. You can redirect the serial port used by LocalTalk. AppleTalk will
  23. still work on this port but if you use it thru a communication software,
  24. you'll have access to the port you are redirected to.
  25. Some very old software may refuse to open the port because they
  26. think it is used by AppleTalk.

  33. This is version 1.0. It was written quickly and many things can be
  34. (and will be if i have enough feed-back) improved. For example, i
  35. can make The Redirector dynamic (no need to restart), i can change
  36. the icons of the standard serial ports to the icon of the port on which
  37. they are redirected (and the CTB name of the port too), etc...
  38. I may even write a version 2.0 for redirecting serial ports to CTB
  39. tools but this is a more difficult job and i have little time...

  43. This one adds dynamic redirection: you do not have to restart your
  44. computer. If the port you want to redirect is open, you are asked to
  45. restart. You have the possibility to close the port, re-open The
  46. Redirector and just clic again in the popUp of the port you want to
  47. redirect.
  48. Some problems of ports never closing have been fixed too.

  52. Yeah ! I just discovered, three years after making The Redirector, that
  53. it was still useful and used ! So I decided to change it from ShareWare
  54. to FreeWare (It's used but only 3 people sent me shareware fees).
  55. I upated the about box with up to date e-mail address. No code change from
  56. version  1.1
